one of those days

one of those days
You know those commercial or on movies where there is total kaos in the home? you know, dog barking, baby screaming, kids yelling "mom!!!" doorbell ringing, phone ringing, blender is going with no lid splattering everywhere? that was my day yesterday. sigh... it all started 2 days ago after my girls got out of school. My oldest says to me, "my head itches mom." I check her and she has lice. I check all our heads and my husband checks mine. Us 3 girls all have it. Luckily not my husband or the baby but thats because they don't have enough hair. So my husband buys enough of the special shampoo for all of us including him just in case. so the next four hours we are washing hair and nit picking. I am so totally grossed out the entire time. Then begins the washing. OMG the washing. it is never ending. i have to wash sheets and blankets and jackets and towels everyday until this is gone.
Well yesterday of course I was washing all day. But there was so much other stuff going on too. i needed to run errands and my ex husband refuses to talk to me over the phone so he texts me. So I am trying to text him back while driving!!! But don't worry I pulled over. so I pick up the girls from school and at 4 pm start nit picking. YUCK. My middle one has incredibly long thick curly hair and there is just no way so I cut it short. to her shoulders. it looks really cute actually! Anyway, after 2 hours of doing her hair, the baby is crying and bored and hungry, my husband is trying to call over and over but his STUPID NEXTEL/SPRINT PHONE keeps dropping the call. He needs to go get it fixed and go buy his Angel Tree Angel her gift and I need help at home because the baby and my oldest are going crazy. He comes home instead thank goodness. His phone rings and its bad news moneywise. Then MY phone is ringing. Baby is yelling. CAT is meowing because no body has fed her. In my head I am trying figure out what the heck we are supposed to do for dinner. My daughter is yelling from the shower. I run in there to help her turn off the water. My husband yells for me and i scream back "WAIT!!!" He yells "WE HAVE A CRITTER IN THE HOUSE!!!" I go out there and there is some kind of animal in our fireplace wanting out. we have the fireplace blocked because of the baby so it was trying push through. We set up a trap and it never came out all night. So maintenence is here as I write this, cutting the sheet rock above it. So far they have found a dead bird and they can see a squirrel but can't get to it. oh joy. Needless to say, I never got to nit pick my other daughters hair and my didn't get done either. oh and of course to top it all off, the baby didn't sleep well last night. She woke up to play at 3AM!!!
And me? Well, i am doing laundry. SIGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Portraits

We went and took some portraits of Lexi this past weekend. Her Abuelitos bought her the dress. I told the lady at Sears that we were not there to take Christmas pictures but one would be OK because well, it is her first Christmas. I just wanted some pictures that would be showable for more than 3 weeks. Needless to say, there are several Christmas pics. Oh well. They came out really cute though and her they are!
I am not supposed to be in this pic. hee hee. I was tickling her and then jumping back.

Milestones and such...

Well, Lexi has now a total of 5 teeth. 3 on the bottom and 2 on top and 3 of them have come in together so for the past 3-4 weeks, i have not slept more than 4-5 hours a night and not even in a row. Teething is hard. A lot of the time I am getting up just to give her her paci. (we call it her chupa-chups- sounds like choopa-choops)I saw somewhere that they have glow-in-the-dark pacis. I just can't remember where! I checked target and they don't have it so I am going to check wal-mart and babies-r-us. i think it would really help me get some sleep. Or at least get up less times. i hope i hope i hope!!!
Marcela got her first report card with C's on it. She freaked out! i didn't. I told her that she can set goals for herself. usually she get to do or buy something fun when she get A's and B's. but not this time. So I hope this goal setting thing will work.
Zoey is doing really well with gymnastics. i am not aloud to go watch her or anything. I helped my ex pay half of the rate for the first year but he told me not to go ever. I went once and then a little while later she had a meet. He didn't bother to tell me and she won all kinds of award and trophies. I told him that was it and I wasn't gonna help pay for it anymore because i should be able to watch her but i WILL be there to watch her meets. Well of course he didn't tell me and she just had one and won again. He makes me so angry. She shows me all she can at home and she is really good. Doesn't get it from me.
I just wish i could go see her.

My DOCTOR???

I just called my neurologist office to get samples of my migraine medicine. The nurse told me that my doctor was no longer in practice and that she'd had a stroke. She lost all mobility on her right side and she no longer remembers English. She only remembers Indian which is her native language. I am just shocked. MY doctor is the one helping me and the one telling me that I need to do Yoga if i really want to feel better. what was SHE doing to take care of herself? She seemed healthy to me. Did she have high cholesterol? Did she not stay fit? I hung up the phone and just started crying. I really like her a lot and she has been my doctor for over 3 years. ever since i got injured on a water slide. Helping me with my back injury from that, Fibromyalgia and migraines. They have assigned me a new doctor. Is he good? Does he know my case like she does? She is an awesome doctor! Why did this happen to her?
My mom had a T.I.A. earlier this year and that was a wake up call for her and she has been exercising and lost weight and doing so much better. Was my doctor ever given a warning like that? It really makes you wonder. Are our doctors taking as good care of themselves as they advise us to do?

Race For The Cure!

Today me, my mom, my oldest daughter, my sis-in-law and my nephew did Race for the Cure! It was probably my 8th time but my mom and daughters first ever. They loved it! My mom had her camera and took pic after pic. She had a great time and so did Marcela. I do it twice a year. It just feels so great to know you are helping and it is litterally a Sea of People. Mostly women but the amount of men grows ever year. The are dogs and babies and it is just amazing. The people that live in the houses on the route come out and cheer you on. You see women who are dealing with breast cancer right now and you see survivors. You can see the "sea" of people going around the corner. Awesome! Some of our politicians...ahem...I mean cheerleaders

Me (on the left) at the finish. We actually started at 15 min so it took us an hour.

Me and Marcela afterwards.

We had a great time and then we went to eat breakfast at our favorite place because we were HUNGRY! There were lots of other walkers there. It's funny when you see someone out on the town the day of the race, it's like you know them. Kinda cool. I think most people leave their Race shirts on all day. I know I do. It's a pride thing I guess. It takes a lot for me to feel proud of myself. To feel that I have accomplished something. But this does it for me everytime. I hope that Race for the Cure will not last much longer. I love it but if there is no more Race for the Cure, then breast cancer HAS been cured. I hope it is very soon. Until then, I will walk.

Nice to meet you!

This is my little Guatemalan baby. Lexi. Well half Guatemalan. She is my youngest. You can see that she looks more white! LOL But believe me she will know her heritage. Her daddy will make sure of it. I also have a step-son in Guatemala and a six year old girl and a ten year old girl. Their pics are below. Except I am the blonde. Anyway, I am an avid reader of 3 blogs and I so enjoy reading them and I hope someone will enjoy reading mine too.
I am married to a wonderful man and thank GOD I finally met him even if it took 2 other disastrous marriages. He is the best step-dad to my other girls and I am so happy with him. I plan to just tell my day to day life and write about whatever I feel like that day. I am sure a lot of it will involve my kids. My gorgeous girls and son I've never met. I hope to make lots of friends! Thanks for reading!
